Choose to Reset

“Yet I hold this against you:  You have forsaken your first love.  Remember the height from which you have fallen!  Repent and do the things you did at first.”  Revelation 2:4-5

The porch swing blew off of the porch again last night.  Sometimes, when the wind blows very strong from a specific direction, it catches the canopy on our porch swing and topples it backwards off of the porch and into a little flower garden.  It is a fairly large swing, makes a loud noise when it falls, and is obviously misplaced on its side in the garden.  The remedy is easy though; just pick it up and set it back in its spot again.  Reset!

Sometimes I allow the winds of life and circumstance to blow me off of the foundation of my relationship with Father and His calling on my life.  When I realize that I am in the flower garden again it is easy to despair, to just lie there and wonder if it is worth getting up.  My relationship with Father is so stable, though, that He invites me to reset.  I don’t have to start all over or do penance or earn my way back. I simply choose to reset to the reality of His love and presence in my life.  Repentance is the realization that I am in the flower garden again and that I desire to be reset.  The winds may blow me off again, but He is not keeping score!

Maybe you are in the flower garden again today.  Choose to reset.  Choose life.

Truth:  Since the blood of Christ cleanses from all sin, He loves me on the porch and in

            the garden.
