Choose to Smell Print

“See how the lilies of the field grow.  They do not labor or spin.  Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”  Matthew 6:28-29            

         
There are 110 species in the lily family.  The lily has six tepals that range in color from whites, yellows, oranges to pinks and purples.  The lily is well known for its beautiful fragrance.  Every Easter, churches are filled with lilies as a reminder of Jesus, the Lily of the Valley.  Have you ever stopped to look at a lily?  I mean really look?  If you get close enough to see the intricate design of the tepals, you will be overwhelmed by the fragrance.  You don’t experience a lily unless you have smelled its beauty!
           

God says that our praises are a sweet fragrance.  When we take time to stop and smell the lilies, our hearts rejoice in God’s goodness to us and we offer the sweet fragrance of praise to Him.  None of this happens, however, if we are rushing here and there, marking off our to do lists.

  Choosing life today means stopping long enough to smell the flowers (it is a great time of year for that).  As you choose to smell, allow your heart to respond to God and His goodness by offering the sacrifice of praise to Him.
